Recently, it is often used with the expression '-린이[-rini]' as a Korean new word. '-린이[-rini]' is derived from '어린이' which means child or kid. You can add '-린이' after various activities. In this case '어린이(child)' is a metaphor for a beginner who is not yet an expert in something and is just starting out.
For example,
- Jurini(주린이) : stock(주식)+child(어린이) (beginners in stock investing)
- Burini(부린이) : real estate(부동산)+child(어린이) (beginners in real estate investing)
- Deungrini(등린이) : mountaineering(등산)+child(어린이) (beginners in mountaineering)
- Golini(골린이) : golf(골프)+children(어린이) (beginners in playing golf)
- Helini(헬린이) : working out(헬스)+child(어린이) (beginners in working out at the gym)
- Chuklini(축린이) : soccer(축구)+child(어린이) (beginners in playing soccer)
- Yorini(요린이) : cooking(요리) + child(어린이) (beginners in cooking)
You cannot learn it from book because it's really recent expression, but a lot of young people already use it! Leave the comment if you have more questions. Hope it helps you to improve your Korean. :)
